Alright, so I was writing a Zelda fanfic awhile ago (well months) but it's something, that after joining here and my latest obsession with WZMR, that I'm thinking of continuing. I want to present the first segment and see what you guys think and get some further feed back. Basically to give an idea, this is after... WW, I believe is the immediate prequel. And since this is a fanfic, this is also an AU story since PH is the confirmed canon.
Without further ado, here is the segment of "The Legend of Zelda: Fight for New Hyrule©"
300 years ago, a band of pirates sailed to find new land to call home. They headed towards ‘the edge of the world’ when they encountered a large fog. Curiously the group proceeded. After an hour of sailing, the fog dissipated and the pirates proceeded forward towards their goal. Three nights later, they spotted the first signs of land. Anxious to see the new land, they did everything they could to travel faster. They eventually touched land and the land was beautiful.
The pirates hit the beach first. At the end of the beach were cliffs towering 107 meters high. The group setup camp on the beach and rested for the day. The next day a scouting party was launched to explore the rest of the land. They first climbed the cliffs and they saw nothing but the beach and ocean. Behind them was a massive clearing and beyond that, faintly visible, a forest that rimmed the clearing.
Today, that clearing is now where New Hyrule’s Castle sits. Beyond the castle is Hyrule Castle Town, the capital of this New World. Hyrule Castle Town is preparing for the one-year completion of Hyrule Castle. The citizens of the city are decorating different sections of town to honor the Goddesses, Din, Nayru, and Farore, for their good fortune and prosperity. Even the Castle and the monarchy of Hyrule are preparing for this inconceivable day. The King of Hyrule, Link, sits at the end of a long, brown, rectangular table, his daughter Zelda next to him, and the Royal Family’s personal advisors filling the rest of the seats.
Although everyone is gathered in the elegant room to plan and discuss the parade, the King’s thoughts are preoccupied on a different matter. Zelda told him that she had a dream of a man hailing from the ocean, a man of peace will join the festival. Later on in this dream, however, she says the man will attack Hyrule Castle Town at dusk and the town will be easily invaded and the castle will fall. Link was so absorbed with this disturbing premonition that the present was fading out, only until the financial advisor asked him a direct question and was awaiting the reply.
“Huh?” Link inquired.
“I asked if you were ok with the financial cost of the festival. Are you ‘ok’, Sir?” the advisor asked.
“I think it’s time to wrap up the meeting,” Princess Zelda said before Link could finish, “We will conclude early tomorrow morning.”
Link sat still in his chair, staring off into thin air, while the advisors packed up their notes and belongings.
Zelda leaned in close next to him and whispered, “Are you thinking about my dream again, Daddy?”
The King stood up, “Captain Viscent, may I have a word with you?”
The uneasy soldier stood front and center in front of the King, “Yes Sir, always. What is it?”
“Would it be too much to trouble you for if you kept the Castle on high alert tomorrow? I want you to be ready for anything that may happen. And I mean anything.” The King spoke gravely, but firm.
“Yes Sir, it will be no trouble at all. Are you expecting company?” the Military Advisor asked to help lighten the atmosphere.
Absentmindedly, Link replied, “Just do it. You’re dismissed.”
“Yes Sir,” and Viscent walked out of the room in a hurry.
“My beloved daughter, how certain are you of this dream of yours?” Link asked aloud when the room emptied.
“As certain as the tingling feeling in my hand,” Zelda said.
The King noticed she was scratching at the hidden Triforce symbol on her hand.
“So it’s bothering you as well,” Link stated gravely, “And I thought it was just me. This is surely a sign from the Goddesses that something is going to happen. There is no denying it. I just don’t know what it could all mean.”
“Father, if you don’t mind, I would like to retire for the night,” Zelda said interrupting Link.
“Yes, very well. Try to sleep well Zelda,” Link said solemnly as he approached a window that overlooked Hyrule Castle Town and Hyrule Field beyond the city. “To imagine, if her dream is a premonition from the Gods, then by this time tomorrow, Hyrule Field will be engaged in her first bloodshed.” And the sun began to set over a hill far in the distance. “Tomorrow, Hyrule Field will be the battlefield of two armies. Mine, the one defending itself from an unknown opponent, the other army, who will have attacked without provocation. Soon after, Hyrule Castle Town will be lit ablaze and after that, the Castle breached and thereafter, fallen. The only thing that makes this situation worse is that there are no reinforcements of any kind. I, and my people, are alone in this struggle for our culture and way of life. No matter his reason for attacking, tomorrow night, I will be on the battlefield, leading my men to their hallow graves. Tomorrow night, I will fight for our right to live. If my people are victims of the bloodshed, then we shall forever be preserved in time. Tomorrow, I will gladly give my life for my people, if it comes to it.”
Link walked away from the window and proceeded up to his room. He knelt down to the crest of the Triforce on the wall, glowing bright yellow, much like his own hand, and he began to pray to the Goddesses to do what is right for the land of Hyrule and to spare the innocent lives of his people.
Any feedback, whether good or bad is greatly appreciated
