Elliot could do nothing but give the poor boy a completely dumbfounded look with his mouth dropped open. That completely took him by surprise for someone to just unload all of that on him. He had no idea what to say or do. But with the kid looking so down and forlorn, he knew he couldn't just brush him off. "You mean to say," he began, shifting the weight of his bag onto his other shoulder, "that you walked all the way here," he pointed down at the boy's feet, "with no shoes," he looked up again into the boy's saddened eyes, "by yourself?" He shook his head in dismay. "Kid, that's no way to go. I don't care what anyone says, a young boy like you shouldn't be out on his own. Suppose you were attacked by some robbers? What then?" He gently placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Tell you what. Why don't you room with me for a bit? We can figure out your situation and decide on your next best course of action. What do you say?"

I really don't have any choice, Jacob thought to himself. I certainly can't knock him out. He most certainly has more combat experience than me. Although Jacob didn't want to, he had to accept the offer. "Sounds good to me." Jacob told the man, his eyes becoming a bit more serious.

Elliot breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. "Alright, that's great. Now don't you worry, we'll get you back to where you need to be right away." He glanced over at the still empty counter. "Now if the Innkeeper would just give me a room..." He shook his head and softly chuckled. "Oh yes, how rude of me. My name's Elliot." He offered his hand to the boy. "And if I may ask, you are...?"

Jacob took the Elliot's hand and shook it. "My name is Jacob. " Jacob replied in a polite voice, trying to be as nice as he could. He wondered about what Elliot had said earlier. What would I do if some robbers attacked? Surely they can't be harder than a Wolfos. Jacob thought to himself. He was certain that question would keep him up all night.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Jacob. So will you be-" He was rudely interrupted by a couple of loud customers that barged into the building. "-a whole lot of 'em! Like, seriously, those poor little tykes don't stand a chance!" "-I'll say. Well, too bad for them. I'm not dealing with any of those creepy creatures." "I'd do it for the reward alone, but I'm no fighter." Elliot watched them trail off to their rooms, their voices growing distant. Rewards? he thought with a look of curiosity in his eyes. They must be talking about something from that mission board. Heh, I remember that thing. Mom never let me go on any of those jobs since they were always dangerous. But I wonder what's up? It sounds like there's trouble... Maybe I should go check it out... He looked over at Jacob who had a stern look about him. He didn't want to leave him all by himself, least something happened to the poor kid--he'd feel horribly guilty. But he wasn't sure if he'd be up for some adventuring. "Say Jacob..." he began, "how would you like to go on a little errand with me?"

Jacob was excited. Finally something fun! Jacob thought to himself, trying to contain his excitement but failing. "Sure, why not!" Jacob said, almost making it seem if he would care if mud dropped on him. He saw the men behind Elliot and grinned. He knew exactly what to do. "Hey, you goofballs over there! Take this key" Jacob threw the man closet to him and the man caught. "Thanks kid!" The man said gratefully. "I'm not going to be coming back anytime soon." Jacob said to himself a bit too louldly.

Elliot stiffled his laughter at Jacob's over-eagerness. What an interesting kid. "Well, we should probably get something to fight with first, before we just barge on in there. I'll be heading to the Kokiri shop. They've got lots of stuff for the cheap there." He checked the contents of his wallet and scratched his head. "Which is a good thing, because I seem to be stripped of cash."

Kairu opened the door and in the three seconds before he shut it again, he noticed the general silence of the room, for being a tavern/inn. He could see the bartender/innkeeper behind the counter filling the drinks of those still up. Kairu walked up to the man and asked for a drink. He sat there, secretly and subtly taking notes of the room. Hoping Ryli would walk down from the stairs, maybe even sneak up behind him. Yet, in the back of his mind, the small portion of pessimism spoke to him, 'this is stupid. She probably just got your hopes up cuz she doesn't like you.' When Kairu finished one mug he asked for another.

Having managed to snag an available room, Elliot stumbled through the door of his allotted compartment and flopped onto the bed, tossing his satchel on the floor beside it. Two straight days of nothing but questing could take quite a toll on a person, and after completing the last mission, he figured he could use a break. He was still a little achy and his cheek from when the Wolfo struck him still stung, although thankfully not as much as before. He rubbed a finger gently across the wound, feeling the rough ridges. Great, he thought, it's probably going to leave a scar now. Ah well. He buried his face into a pillow he spotted lying a few inches before him, too tired to care whether it was clean or not. "So...tired..."

The bright light of dawn shining through the window forced Elliot to wake up much more earlier than he would have cared for. Still, he was never one to complain about an early start to the day. He rolled out of bed and stretched, glad to observe that he at least wasn't as sore as yesterday. He grabbed his satchel and half walked half ran down the stairs into the eating facility, already starving for some food. He waved over the attention of a worker, ready to make his order--eggs, sausage, and some freshly baked bread. He gulped down everything on the piping hot plate in a matter of seconds then stood up to leave, making sure to toss a few rupees onto the counter as a tip for the delicious food.
